As a little girl, I wanted to grow up to be a Nurse!
This Little Golden Book, "Nurse Nancy" was one of my favorite books! My Daddy was my hero, my protector, my swimming teacher, and my favorite doctor. I loved the many nurses I met with him at his office and at the hospitals when he took me on his rounds sometimes! I loved carrying around my little black nurse's bag filled with colorful band aids, candy pills, and pretend stethoscope, tweezers, and tiny plastic microscope!
My Mamaw Mayme (my dad's mother) was a good seamstress and she made me this Nurse uniform! Daddy would let me wear it and go with him on rounds sometimes! She made me two different sizes of this adorable little nurse uniform, hat and all!
I guess I was in a little bit of a cranky mood here based on the expression on my face here! Hahahaha! Bill just said, "I've seen THAT face before!" What???
Yes, I do have a cast on my broken right arm here! I was a climber and in Kindergarten I fell off the top of the swing set after I had climbed all the way up on top and yes, broke my right arm. Then the next year, I was climbing trees, fell out and broke my left arm in first grade!
Yes, I did want to be a nurse, when I was a little girl, but as I grew older and found out that you have to leave Baylor after only two years there and finish a nursing degree in Dallas, I decided to pursue a Speech Therapy degree instead where I could stay at Baylor for 5 years and come out with a Masters! However, I do appreciate nurses and ALL they do! After spending so much time in the NICU in Houston with my new grandson I have even MORE appreciation for Nurses. If I ever decided to pursue a second career it just might be nursing!

It's been one month now since Colton arrived 8 weeks early!
God is so good! One month ago, June 17th, Melissa called me and said she was having an emergency c-section! Sudden onset Preeclampsia/HELLP Syndrome was the diagnosis and delivery of the baby is the cure. Bill and I drive to Houston immediately and got there asap to find mother and baby both ok and with good prognosis for each of them. Texas Children's Pavilion for Women is where Melissa's doctor practices and delivers and we are very thankful for this amazing one of a kind facility right here in Houston, Texas. We have experienced top quality care and could not ask for better doctors, nurses, lactation consultants, respiratory therapists, Occupational Therapists, Physical Therapists, Developmental Specialists, and more! God is amazing and we are so thankful! We celebrate life and we thank God for protecting Melissa and Colton. We are truly blessed beyond measure.
Deuteronomy 28:2, "And all these blessings shall come on thee, overtake thee, if thou shalt hearken unto the voice of the Lord thy God."

Magic happend in May at Walt Disney World! May25th through 31st, 2013
This was our last day of the week as we said goodbye to Brad & Kelsey and put them on the Magical Express to head back to the airport.
Bill bought me this gift set in the Norway pavillion of Epcot on our last day of this trip! |
Bill and I got to meet Geir Ness, the perfume creator who designed "The Essence of Norway!" Bill is half Norwegian so we feel a kinship with the Norway area!
Our last day at WDW Bill and chose to wander the World Showcase of Epcot, our favorite park. This photo was taken in the Morocco pavillion. The King of Morocco gave his own monies to ensure this area proudly and beautifully represented his country. The shops and restaurants here are very good.
Epcot is definitely our most favorite park!
This mock up of Trevvy Fountain in Italy is lovely and a perfect photo spot at Epcot! |
We had a wonderful dinner at Cinderella's castle with Brad and Kelsey to celebrate Brad's 23rd birthday!
We had a great time showing Kelsey around her first visit to Disney's Animal Kingdom!
Disney's Hollywood Studios is always fun and entertaining!
The view of African wildlife from our balconies at Animal Kingdom Lodge was amazing!
It was sad to have to put Melissa and Jonathan on their Magic Express when they had to head back to the airport and back to Houston. :(
We spent our last day with Melissa and Jonathan getting to join us in Orlando at Hollywood Studios! |
It was so fun to watch Kelsey experience her first lunch visit to Sci Fi Dine In!
Muppets 3D is a must do at Disney Hollywood Studios! |
A family photo with Mickey in our Mickey Ears is a must do!
We had the best dinner at La Hacienda with our kids and stayed right at our table to watch the fireworks at Epcot called "Illuminations"! |
Jonathan is ALWAYS fun!
This is the fajita special platter Bill and I split at La Hacienda! SO good!
We truly did have a magical week at Walt Disney World where we enjoy our Disney Vacation Club Membership! We loved this time with our kids and can't wait to go back before too long with our first grandchild, Colton, who arrives in August 2013!
