As a little girl, I wanted to grow up to be a Nurse!

This Little Golden Book, "Nurse Nancy" was one of my favorite books!  My Daddy was my hero, my protector, my swimming teacher, and my favorite doctor.  I loved the many nurses I met with him at his office and at the hospitals when he took me on his rounds sometimes!  I loved carrying around my little black nurse's bag filled with colorful band aids, candy pills, and pretend stethoscope, tweezers, and tiny plastic microscope!

My Mamaw Mayme (my dad's mother) was a good seamstress and she made me this Nurse uniform!  Daddy would let me wear it and go with him on rounds sometimes!   She made me two different sizes of this adorable little nurse uniform, hat and all!

I guess I was in a little bit of a cranky mood here based on the expression on my face here!  Hahahaha!  Bill just said, "I've seen THAT face before!"  What???

Yes, I do have a cast on my broken right arm here!  I was a climber and in Kindergarten I fell off the top of the swing set after I had climbed all the way up on top and yes, broke my right arm.  Then the next year, I was climbing trees, fell out and broke my left arm in first grade!

Yes, I did want to be a nurse, when I was a little girl, but as I grew older and found out that you have to leave Baylor after only two years there and finish a nursing degree in Dallas, I decided to pursue a Speech Therapy degree instead where I could stay at Baylor for 5 years and come out with a Masters!  However, I do appreciate nurses and ALL they do!  After spending so much time in the NICU in Houston with my new grandson I have even MORE appreciation for Nurses.  If I ever decided to pursue a second career it just might be nursing!
